NORTH-REG is an independent public research organization that facilitates and coordinates clinical research projects within urothelial cancer in the five Nordic countries – Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. The research field is all aspects of urothelial cancer from diagnosis and treatment to follow-up on all stages of bladder cancer and urothelial cancer in the upper urinary tract and urethra.
Within the Nordic countries, incidence of urothelial cancer is approximately 8,000 new cases per year with a prevalence of almost 75,000 patients living with the diagnosis.
Goals and Objectives
The overall goal is to facilitate, coordinate and ensure conduction of international multicenter studies with inclusion of patients from the Nordic countries. We think that this is the best way to facilitate an efficient fast recruitment of patients in order to go from idea to result as quickly as possible for the benefit of future patients.
We aim to increase patient outcome, survival and quality of life by testing new therapeutic strategies based on existing or new drugs, different types of surgery and combinations thereof.
Relevant research projects for NORTH-REG can be both investigator initiated clinical trials as well as conduction of more formalized sponsor initiated trials.
NORTH-REG research is conducted under conditions of unwavering independence and strictly compliant with relevant regulations. All results are made public to ensure patients and colleagues benefit from our results.
