Study protocol for a Nordic multicenter study “Lymphadenectomy in upper tract urothelial carcinoma in the renal pelvis/calyces” (Lurp Study)
Study summary:
The indications for and extent of lymphadenectomy during surgery
for upper tract urothelial carcinomas (UTUC) are hampered by the lack of evidence in a rare disease. The introduction of adjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced UTUC (cT3 and/or N+) has further strengthened the indication to assess
lymph node status and perform a template-based lymphadenectomy. Thus, we undertake a prospective template-based lymphadenectomy in patients with clinically advanced UTUC in the renal pelvis or upper 2/3 of the ureter in a Nordic multicentre
setting with the primary endpoint location of lymph node metastases at surgery. Secondary aims are to further define preoperative predictors of lymph node metastases and assess surgery-related complications within 90 days.
